Custom operating systems for South African SMEs

One database as the source of truth, interfaces built around it, and the automation on top. For businesses outgrowing a spreadsheet, or a platform that was never built for how they work.

What I build

A real database
One PostgreSQL database as the single source of truth, replacing spreadsheets and Notion tables.
Interfaces on top of it
Web interfaces and role-scoped portals for staff, clients and customers.
Moving your existing data
Migration out of the spreadsheets and legacy platforms it currently lives in.
Automation and reporting
Built on the same database rather than alongside it.

Deployments

ProDirect Properties

Residential property management · Johannesburg

ProDirect Properties

A property management system replacing the Excel workbook the agency's entire lettings book ran on. A PostgreSQL database now holds owners, properties, units, tenants and leases as the single source of truth, with an invite-only portal where each landlord signs in to see live occupancy, rent roll and upcoming lease expiries.

Access is scoped at the database level, so a landlord's queries can only ever return their own portfolio. The existing records were moved across by a repeatable Python migration pipeline rather than re-keyed by hand.

Notus Distributors

B2B wholesale distribution · South Africa

Notus Distributors

A custom storefront for a wholesale distributor, built headless over Shopify so the buying experience isn't limited by an off-the-shelf theme. Trade pricing is hidden by default and only becomes visible once an account is approved, with wholesale applications routed to the owner for a decision.

Customers sign in passwordless — no passwords stored, no reset flow to support. A commission system for the sales rep network is currently in build on the same stack.

How I work

Work is scoped in phases. Each phase is quoted and signed on its own, so you are not committed to the whole thing up front.

The Supabase, Vercel and domain accounts are set up under your billing from the start, so the database and the deployment are yours. On a new build you see the system working before it is invoiced.

Book a systems review

Bring the spreadsheet or the platform you are currently running on. The review covers what a system would need to hold, what it would take to move your existing data, and what a first phase would contain.
